Asia in Paris.

Since last week I have decided to do a ” museums tour “: after visiting two in Vannes, it was the time doing the same in Paris. There are so many museums and exhibitions that nobody is able to visit each one ! I chose Musée Guimet, which is a huge museum of Asian Arts ( traditional ). You can find there old Chinese ceramics, furnitures, paintings and calligraphy, Cambodian stone statues, Japanese masks… there are so many countries and styles ( religious or domestic objects ). This day I had decided to make a few sketshes, happy with my drawing book under the arm. But it was almost impossible because I had too much choice, I think.

-This sculpture caught my eye : the faces were so beautiful but very different by their expressions. The title was : 5 upper heads of the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, buddha of compassion. China, 18th century. This piece of art was in the Tibet religious artwork room. I will go back in this room soon, now I realize there were other things I should have drawed.

-This is a portrait of an Indian prince. It was part of a serie of Indian portraits and small paintings on paper. Each one was so thin, so precious and and beautiful. Actually I made this after, when I was at home. Their clothes had gorgious patterns !

-Same beard but Japanese inspiration – my special mix !
